Robert the Bruce was known to use an Ax in battle. Any ideas of it's design ???

Well, I couldn't really speak as to what KIND of axe it would be, but if I was to hazard a guess, I would think it would be a heavy single-handed one something like the one shown on the miniature below. He was purported to have broken his over the skull of Henry de Bohun at Bannockburn, lamenting that "I have broken my good battle axe." Some dispute this though.

I dont suppose we will ever know exactly what axe he used but we can of course guess and speculate.
For what it's worth, I like the axe design that the statue of Robert the Bruce at the Bannockburn Centre has. See the picture taken by me in the following link.

I suppose that the best guess would be find some typology, then data about types that were popular in Scotland at the time.
Some good topic are here, on Armoury - some already linked, thanks!
Anyway, I've seen fun little stuff like that

From polish finds - different types, when they were used, and how many were found.
It seems that:
VII, VIII, XIII - are interpreted weapons
VIIa, X, XIa, XII - tools
VIIIa, IX, IXa, Xa, XI - tools or/and weapons
Maybe someone would know more about state of this in Britain/Scotland.
