For Sale: Darkwood Armory Basket Hilt
This listing has been REMOVED and is no longer active

I just received a new basket hilt from Scott and company at Darkwood Armory. I think this may one of Scott's finest efforts as the detailing is very nice indeed. I have some other obligations just now and this one - alas! - is going to have to find a new home. This is the basket, grip and pommel only. The grip is plain wood as I wanted a sword that was reminiscent of a Jacobite-era hilt that was supplied by Prince Charles from those built for him in France and brought over by Antoine Walsh in 1744. It is very much like a specimin found on the Prestonpans battlefield after the battle and illustrated in "Culloden and the '45' by Jeremy Black (which is a very fine book, by the way. Probably one of the best and most balanced accounts of the 1744-1745 campaign from a global perspective.) Please note that the blade illustrated with the hilt is not included but I will supply a nice backsword blade made by Angus Trim which you will have to mount as I just don't have the time. This is a brand new, right out of the box piece. As noted elsewhere, since ElJay, Vince, and Donnie Shearer are not accepting commissions, this is a chance to own a nice piece that would take 9-12 months to have made and delivered. Price shipped in the U.S. is $686.00. My cost was $786.00.
