Hehe, thanks Tod, got your e-mail :) .

Now for on topic...if the dagger is purely decorative, maybe a deepka one may work. Something like this one maybe?

The dagger looks nice, some rough patches I wouldn't leave on a knife, but more than acceptable for the low price. Depeeka knives are often underestimated as second rate, but usually have sturdy tangs and at least partially peened pommels as well as fairly good steel that can take an edge surprisingly well.
But it needs a much better sceath than that modern one. Wood core with leather cover stitched at the back or double leather with saddlers' seam also along the back preferably. Still, that could make for an interesting project and it's not really all that hard to make.

Hah! That's the rondel I purchased by accident at a fair some time ago. Quite a pretty thing, and has held up with practice sparring quite decently so far (....as far as the sharpened tip allows - still intending to grind it off one day).

I was however a bit confused by the engraving on the blade: Is that even remotely historically probable? It just looks 'too much' as some modern kitsch to attract lay fair tourists (such as, unfortunately, myself...)
I ended up buying a couple of Tod's knives, a quillon dagger and the misierecord.
