Byzantines
This is my first post here.
I live in Taranto most of my time. The Byzantines are my special
interest, even as the geographic area of origin, as is well known part
of northern Italy and southern Italy has long been dominated by the
Byzantines. On your site I got there by typing on google Byzantine
sword. I noticed that there are real experts of swords. On the same
page of Google I found an Italian manufacturer, Ares Academy which has
a specimen of Byzantine sword. I wish I had one of those swords. Just
look good, but ...
I bought a few swords from another Italian manufacturer: Del Tin. From
him I found nothing of the Byzantine sword.
Before purchasing I would like your opinion on the historicity of the
sword, especially the guard and the blade.
Byzantine Sword type "Joshua". Here's the link:

I'm sorry but I could not directly put the picture here.
Sorry for my English.
Thanks in advance.
Hi Cafanga, and welcome to the forum. From what I could tell on the site, the sword in question is based on that byzantine depiction of Joshua, hence the sword's name. Unfortunately, I do not know of any examples of swords like this that have survived to our times.
PM sent with some information. Hope this is helpful!

Mike
Detailed explanations on the sword can be found here.

The manufacturer, I know him well.
I know some swords "Type Joshua" were purchased by Professor Vito
Maglie, near your area.
His association "Li cavalieri delli terre Tarantine" dedicated
exclusively to the Byzantines.
