Hello,

I'm looking around for a fine and serviceable gambeson for my future planned 14-15th century transitional harness, and I figured it'd be a good idea to put forth my questions here. So far I have my eyes fixed on Revival Clothing's 14th Century Linen Gambeson after reading good reviews about it, but I don't see how it'd hurt to get some more input on this before I spend any money.

So, would a purchase from Revival Clothing leave me a content customer? I am not involved in any sparring at the moment but I cannot tell what the future might hold, and I want to be ready for most anything. If you have any other suggestions I am quite open to hearing them. Happy

Thank you,
Emil Andersson

I am not familiar with Revival Clothin's Gambeson so I can't comment on it's quality. I have one from Matuls from Poland and I love it. It's cheaper than the RC gambeson (even when including shipping) and it's made to your measurements. I think the RC gambesons are standard sizes. Check out http://matuls.pl/

Hi Emil!

Revival Clothing is an amarican business and you live in Sweden it might be expensive to have it shipped over the atlantic. I would recommend Medieval Market from Poland just opposide the baltic sea. Wink

They have very well and acurately made stuff and they generally make gambesons to the measures of the future owner.
I have one from them and use it under harness similar to want you plan in full contact steel fighting, as do the maiority of the polish early 15th century reenactors to whom medieval market sells. Their gambesons work well.

For your timeframe, I would recommend one of these two:

And as an extra, they are not as expansive as the US stuff ( which is so with most of the reenactment stuff, strangely) Surprised

Do you know if medieval market ships to the U.S. it didn't say on their website? All their gambesons look amazing.

I want to thank you for all of your input, guys. You have certainly given me a couple of great alternatives to choose from!

The two that caught my eye the most is This One from Medieval Market and This One from Matuls. The one from Matuls might be a couple of years later than what I had envisioned at first but wow, those puffy shoulders look terrific. Happy

Thanks again. I'll let you know if I have any other questions, and how it all turns out once I make my decision.

I bought a gambeson from Medieval Market and would recommend them highly. Communications with Grzegorz was excellent and the quality was great. I live in the USA and shipping was not an issue.
