I just found this possibly interesting object.

http://www.guide2nottingham.com/news/119/Robi...Nottingham

Basically a dagger was found in somebodies attic that has 'Robyn Hood' engraved on the blade.

The dagger looks very interesting in its own right and is similar to the Alexander Baliol one I did for Chad Arnow and so dates this dagger to a similar time and that is about Robin Hood era of roughly late 13thC.

Dissappointingly the script looks 17th or 18thC to me.

Any thoughts?

Check this out:

The script, if present, isn't as clear in those photos.

Ironically, they're the same image. The one on the Nottingham web site has been retouched. Perhaps it was done so to bring out the script? Perhaps for some other reason?

Thoughts?

Interesting dagger

Thanks for posting up the full length picture - one for the archives. Also a very short single edged blade which is also interesting.

Tod,
The non-retouched dagger was discussed in passing once before in this thread: http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=16831 .

I think it's a neat piece.
