I'm going to be building a replica European handcannon / handgonne around a small 9" antique Chinese cannon barrel, and am trying to design a stock. I want it to be attractive, and sort of blunderbuss-like to accentuate the stubby barrel, but I don't want to get too far afield from historical examples. A few ideas I've crudely sketched out for criticism and commentary, though I'm considering removing the "notched" area from the front of these examples:

The designs are inspired by a few historical examples I've rooted out.

This one is probably Chinese, but I like it, and I'm hoping there is a Euro example that is similar. It does resemble the last example shown above. Maybe I should just go with this design?

Anybody see any major issues with my sketches that might cause my friends to snort in disgust and dismiss me as a farbish imbecile? Any other recommendations or suggestion?
