Hi everyone. I've been looking at this one site that details the weapons of Ned Kelly. One of the weapons that's shown promenently is this ancient sawn off carbine that was his trademark weapon until Euroa. Trouble is I can't tell whether this was 100% handmade or if it's a modified version of a previous type of gun.
Is this muzzle loading, or was it repeating? This gun is a complete mystery to me. If anyone can help, please let me know.

It is claimed to be .557 Snider-Enfield.

Edit: It is a breech-loading conversion from muzzle-loading, to answer a question straight away

Except the cut down carbine doesn't have the Snider conversion in Richard 's linked photo. That has a hammer and nipple of a percussion firearm.
You might be mixing up two of Ned Kelly's firearms.
The one Richard has linked looks like a cut down muzzleloading Enfield musket. Maybe the 1853. (The Brits converted the 1853's to a breach loading design via the Snider conversion)
