I am hoping someone will be able to help me - I'm no expert in this field, but am rather an author, whose new novel is set in 16th century Naples. One of my characters is a 'maestre de campo' in the Spanish Army (in occupation at the time, I believe). I'd love to make contact with anyone who knows anything about this period and place, as I have several questions to which I'd dearly love answers!

Try these sites--and don't hesitate to contact their staff. The Renaissance Soldiers bunch in particular would be more than eager to help.
