June News from Arms & Armor

[ Linked Image ]

June is upon us already and the busy summer season has started. The sparks are flying and we have some fun new things in the works, but for now I just wanted to let everyone know that we have some new pieces on the Muster page and will probably have some more additions quickly showing up. At the moment the Black Prince Sword is still the Highlight Item but that will change soon as well.

I think updates and such will be a little random over the next few weeks but that will allow us to get things available as soon as they are ready and make it easier to prepare the information.

Hope everyone is well and we look forward to seeing those who like to visit us at the shows and events this summer.

The Minnesota Renaissance Festival runs from August 21st to October 3rd this year. The highlights for me every year are watching the New Riders of the Golden Age jousting production and spending WAY too much time ogling your weapons (much to my wife's annoyance). I highly recommend that anyone in the upper midwest who can make the trek do so. Viewing, handling and purchasing (of course :)) A&A weapons is a great pleasure!
Sigh. Why did I tell my wife that I wouldn't buy any more swords this year. Is anyone willing to buy the Two Handed Katzbalger for me? ;)
Silly question: What time period(s) are the Swiss and Alpine daggers appropriate for?

Just call it a giant Swiss Cheese cutter for very large " fondues " ...... yes that will work or get her to a shoe store and let her buy some expensive shoes she will feel guilty enough about to be too embarrassed to critizise a sword purchase. :p Just hope the shoes leave you enough money to still buy the sword. :p :D

Haha, seriously, that sword is amazing.
Right around the turn of the 15th C.

Hi Joshua

You can see some more info on the styles of this dagger on this thread from a few months ago.

Any news on the English Buckler or Round Targe?
Hello Craig,

Any news on when the English Buckler and Round Targe will be available again?
I'm considering picking up one or both of these in the near future.
Hi Craig,

I know you'll probably never bring it back to the catalog, but I used to own one of your dragon-shaped war hammers.
I curse the day I sold it to pay the bills on a car repair. And I've never seen one for sale anywhere since.
I'd give almost anything to have him back...

I still dream of his deadly face at night =sniff=

I second Mark's positive feelings and longing for a dragon war hammer. I never owned one, as it was discontinued shortly after I got into this hobby, and I never got a chance to pick one up. Any plans for another version?

Yes! The Round Targe should be available soon. It has been away for a while due to economic and supplier issues but I would expect it to make an appearance quite soon :-)

The English will follow if all goes well but it will be a bit for that item.

Hi Mark

Your and Michael's comments are appreciated. It was always one of our favorites as well. I am not sure what it would take to reconstitute the item. Molds and prototypes would need to be dug up and checked. If I remember correctly we had some pretty major issues to deal with.

But I will look into it and see what kind of effort would be needed to do a limited edition run or one of type piece.

I fear there can be no promises at this point but I will check out the possibility.

I have one of these, and am glad it was brought up because I had meant to ask about the original. To what period does the original date? I no longer remember the description from when I bought it (2003?), so have tentatively assigned it to a prospective 15thc. Milanese condottiero kit:

It dates to circa 1380. See here: http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t=7449

Looks great!

By the way, I watched "Wolfman" last night (Anthony Hopkins). I am almost 100% certain they used your ITALIAN BILL (of which I have one) in that movie. It was in Anthony hopkins giant mansion on a wall or such...
Gladius on Muster Page
We also have a Mainz style Gladius we have posted to the Muster Page.
