I'm very sorry for your loss Jean,
My Father passed away just before the New Year and now, at 44 both of my parents are gone. Having your Mother for 60 years was certainly a precious gift.
God Bless

I cannot begin to imagine a world without my mother in it, so I cannot begin to imagine how deeply a loss this is for you. I am truely sorry, but hopefully she led a full and complete life, and had thoughts of you in the end. Wherever she has gone, I am sure you will be able to reunite with her when your time comes. Until then, strive to do things to make her proud a she watches over you. A mother's love knows no bounds, so I am sure she will be with you always.

Jean...
Please accept my condolences for your loss. My own mother is 91 and fortunately in good health. However, I know that anything might happen at any time.
Peace to you and your family.

Yes and there is not much one can do about the eventuallity of it all, and I'm glad that your Mom is in good health.
And thanks for the kind words.

Please accept my sincerest condolences.
'I saw young Harry, -with his bevor on,
His cuisses on his thighs, gallantly arm'd,-
Rise from the ground like feather'd Mercury,
And vaulted with such ease into his seat,
As if an angel dropp'd down from the clouds,
To turn and wind a fiery Pegasus,
And witch the world with noble horsemanship.'

So many nice replies that answering each and every one is difficult so a general thanks to all and a few comments about my present state of mind.
I'm sort of holding up O.K. but the feelings come in waves and I have been expecting or thinking about losing her eventually for a long time i.e. sort prepared myself in advance about the eventuality or the inevitability that one eventually loses one's parents unless one dies before them ! The reality is obviously something " REAL " and not as easy to be " Zen " about than in theory before the fact.
What one can't change one has to endure until it fades in intensity or frequency although it never completely goes away, nor should it do so !
There are really no " platitudes " in such a case when the words are meant to give comfort and relief: So all the comments above have been appreciated including those at a loss for words or those saying that she is in a better place or at least not suffering physically or emotionally since fundamentally they are accurate words.
The pain of losing the loved person seem less disturbing than their pain one was worrying about.
Anyway the reality of the whole thing, even if it seems contradictory, feels very unreal at times and much much too real at other times.
Thanks all for the kind words.

Jean, you have my deepest sympathies too.
Your mother had a fine innings and left a caring and generous son - a life worth celebrating.

Dear Jean,
Please accept my belated condolences. I just returned home from a memorial service for my uncle. It is not nearly the same as losing your mother, but I think I understand, at least a little bit, how you must feel.

Thanks and my condolences on the loss of your uncle.
Oh, and thanks again to everybody else who have posted their very helpful comments as it's difficult to reply to each and every one of you with a specific post: Be assured that I appreciate all the comments and good wishes.
