Hi.
A friend of mine stated that in the XIV th. cen. there were steel shields arleady. This good friend sometimes isn't always well informed, but I was thrilled by this statement and I wanted to check if this was true. Is it?

Well I believe that all steel bucklers were in use by the 14th century, so I suppose it's possible, though I haven't heard of steel rotelle at this time.
