This was was sold at the last auction of the Hermann Historica. The wootz pattern was not that marvellous, but it was good. The handle decoration and the feel of this dagger were really nice.
By courtesy of Hermann Historica
"Ottoman, around 1740. Double-edged, Wootz-Damascus blade with one edge curved, reinforced point, mid ridge on both sides, reinforced edges, and gold inlaid, floral cartouches. Gilded silver grip completely covered with filigree and trimmed with glass gems or quadrangular silver rivets on the obverse side and pommel. The silver scabbard, worked en suite, has a wooden liner and a suspension ring on the reverse side. Length 40.5 cm. "
Your opinions on this dagger are appreciated.
Regards
Manoucher
