Old French briquet I think
Hi. would anyone know about this dug relic sword. The blade length is 22 inches. It looks a lot like the model 1816 French but maybe its English. Any idea about the markings? The N has some interesting markings underneath.

Dennis

Sorry guys My photos must be too big -- I haven't figure out how to rezize them in picasa yet

Just open it in MS Paint and click reize button then choose something like 50% - usually it does he trick of reducing image's size to managable ammount, then just save it as JPG.
Our attachment guide gives you all the info in one place to help you.
A quick, free and relatively painless routine one can download is called Shrink Pic
http://www.onthegosoft.com/shrink_pic.htm

Even though I have other onboard sizing tools (most cameras also come with software and instructions for sizing) Shrink Pic has been quite useful. Many picture hosting sites and attachment fomats now also have this capability. This routine lives on your pc desktop and can be enabled or disabled at a click.

Sorry to ramble in what may seem off topic.

As to the item, many countries fielded similar short swords with brass hilts.

Cheers

GC
