It is not at all uncommon for langlets to go into the socket on pollaxes/warhammers. See feature article on pollaxes on this site. warhammers are a really fun easy diy project, I have made a few, from tiny chekan-type deals to a pollaxe made from a 3-pound cross-peen. Now that my forge is set up, I have more options as far as what I can do with a certain hammer.
