For all of you Mortuary hilt fans out there, check out Harvey Wither's site, www.britishmilitaryswords.co.uk. He is offering a 1640-era mortunary sword with the original scabbard. The blade is heavily etched and engraved. The outward face of the semi-basket is heavily chisteled. Harvey has provided a number of nice close-up shots. This is - at least in my experience - a chance to see a very nice sword paired with the scabbard. Enjoy and Happy Holidays to all!

another interesting feature about this particular mortuary is the leather basket liner. There are only a couple shown in Mazansky's book and I've never seen one with a liner personally. The pics of this will surely find their way into my mortuary hilt photo data base collection.
