New book at the printers...
Greetings to all,

I thought the forumites might be interested to know that my new title, Fighting with the German Longsword has gone to press and will be back for delivery in record time: by the 3rd week of July. This work is a training guide for students of Master Liechtenauer's Art of Fighting - the Kunst des Fechtens. The work draws not only upon my previous studies of Sigmund Ringeck's commentaries on the system, but also the Dőbringer, Danzig, Lew, Speyer, Talhoffer and Meyer manuscripts and includes detailed footwork, cutting and thrusting drills and much more.

Please have a look at it on the Chivalry Bookshelf website. Enjoy!

All the best,

Christian H. Tobler

Thanks for the update Christian, I for one will definitely be looking for this book when it's released. :D
How do you like your Albion Riding Sword, by the way?
Thanks Rob, I appreciate it!

I'm loving the riding sword...now if I could just afford a scabbard for it right now. Unfortunately, I've had several household and vehicle disasters occur of late, all of which seem to cost between $1300 and $1400! Ah well, I'll get to it someday.

Take care,

Christian
Hi Christian,

I'm also looking forward to this new book. It will make and excellent companion to Secrets of German Medieval Swordsmanship, which I've now read through several times.

Hi Christian,

As an owner of both Secrets and Mark Rector's interpretation of Talhoffer's Fechtbuch, I can say that I'm definitely looking forward to getting my paws on your new book as soon as I can. I'd love to see how you brought in the works of other Schirmaister in addition to Liechtenauer and Ringeck. Is there anything from Codex Wallerstein in there as well?
Thanks for your support gentlemen.

Jeremiah - I've stuck to more of the text sources for the Liechtenauer school, rather than the more illustrated ones, although I do reference Talhoffer in a couple places. That still leaves a lot to draw on from the sources I've personally worked with. I might touch on Wallerstein in a future training volume, as it seems to include some rather 'high level' counters to the classic repertoire; for instance, there are some novel counters to the Winden in there.

Take care all,

Christian
Hi Christian,.

Excellent news, I am really looking forward to this book's release. Count me in for a copy!

New book
Christian,

I bought "Secrets of German Medieval Swordsmanship" at the WMA event in Racine WI back in 2002. It is an excellent resource and I look forward to your next effort.

Best regards,

Joe Payne
