Im going for a 1520-1535 landsknecht kit, and i was wondering about weapons. i know they almost always used a pole arm (i will be purchasing a halberd, btw im going for doppelsoldner) and i was wondering about the side arms, I see lots of katzbalgers and know that it was the principle side-arm. however, i see a few w/ longswords instead. would this work instead of a katzbalger? or is it just a bit too weird, and if i showed up w/o one, id be sent to the unpoplular tent of the Fahnlien. i also notice that if its a long, or short, they always have the s-gaurd. is that more of the Landsknecht club rule than the length and design?
