Diogo Gomes de Figueiredo, montante translation available
Dom Diogo Gomes de Figueiredo's work on the use of the montante, the two-handed sword native to Spain and Portugal, is now available in English translation. This is a relatively short work, but represents almost half of the currently known material for this weapon from these two countries, and is the primary source that Steve Hick and I have taught from at the last 3 WMAWs, and that Steve Hick and Matt Galas have taught from at recent HEMAC events. The translation, transcription, and an article on the history and context of this weapon's use are available as a free download from the Oakeshott Institute at http://oakeshott.org/Article.html.
Great news! Thanks for letting us know and for the translation itself of course.
That is terrific! I just downloaded it, and can't wait to start going through it.

Fantastic Eric! Sincere thanks to yourself and Steve for translating and for sharing with us. If we ever meet in person allow me to buy you a beer.

Cheers,

Thanks everyone, I look forward to seeing what people come up with when working through this material :)
