Anaylsis of the Military Museum of Tehran
I just flew back from Tehran. With the kind permission of Iranian Cultural Heritage Foundation and Iranian Military Museums, I got the permission to analyze the swords belonging to Shah Ismail I, Shah Abbas and the Karim Khan Zand and many other shamshirs belonging to kings, as well as the swords belonging to Tamerlane. We weighed and measured all of them and Ms. Marjan Habibi (director of the Audio and Visual Department of Cultural Heritage Foundation) took 5000 pictures of them.

Together with Ms Sima Habibi (Director of Muzeye Melat) and Ms. Khodabash (professional restorer and specialit of Iranian Cultural Heritage Foundation) and with the cooperation of specialists of Iranian army, I was able to handle many pieces of arms and armor.

All will appear in my upcoming book.

A big success. In my next trips, I will analyze the rest of the museums in Iran. I had a very strong team at my disposal.

Very Cool
I guess I never thought that Tamerlane's swords were around someplace. I'd buy that book. Nice project.

Yes two Iranian shamshirs which were made for him. The government of Uznakestan tried very hard to borrow them for a while.

Excellent...
Heh. Don't forget, amigo, that I'll be wanting to purchase those as well. Did you find many of the straight, wide blades? I'd meant to ask you some time ago, but I'm online a little bit less than I used to be...
Yes many different types.
Wonderful. I begin to strongly suspect that the lorovallopallos is actually derived from Persian influence...
I'm totally confused, Manoucher.

Where are Tamerlane's swords mentioned?

What is it that Russ wants to purchase? Are you going into the sword business?

What Is the "German Institute of Sword Forum"?
Tamerlane swords are two Persian shamshirs made for him. They are kept in the Military Museum of Tehran as you know Timur conquered Iran and established the Timurid Dynasty. No I will definitely not go into sword business, I am a researcher and not into doing business with these items. This was a wrong reporting and the report is corrected in a later edition. They meant to say American Institute SFI. You see what happens to all these translations.
