A comrade passes on
Evening all

Some of you will no doubt have met Marc Lupescu at the Bristol Ren Faire over the years. Marc was a great friend and smith who did a lot of work for the stage and participants at Bristol . He passed away unexpectedly this weekend and will leave a big space to fill for those who knew him. He was always open and friendly with smiths, customers and all who came to his great booth at the fair with its working water wheel and shaft driven hammer.

He will be missed by many. If you are inclined, lift a glass to his memory and a hope that those that follow will have his energy, good nature and comradeship.

We will miss you Marc!

Craig
Always very tragic to hear when someone with such energy and kindness pass away. I did not know him myself but his contribution to this community was a great one. He will indeed be missed.

It's always tragic a smith's death. I hope now he can forge all he want with the Great Craftsman!
May God greet him in a better place
While the extent of my knowledge of Marc is limited to seeing him at the forge at Bristol Faire, I watched him ply his craft for the last ten years with interest. It's sad to hear has passed, but we'll try to remember him and his art every time we pass his old booth. Hail, and farewell!

Chris
With a toll of a bell and a scratch of a quill, we count his days in death, as we did in life.

Condolences to his friends and family and although I didn't know him it's always sad when someone passes and makes the World a smaller less rich place.
Craig-

Thank you for posting this. I forget sometimes how close knit our community really is.

Marc was a good friend, talented smith, and energetic teacher. He leaves big shoes to fill in his place but we are all better for knowing him. If you knew Marc, enjoyed his work or his friendship please feel free to come to a memorial service being held this Friday at the Bristol Renaissance Faire.

This Sunday we lost a dear friend, Marc Lepescu. He was always a friend of us on a personal and professional level. For anyone who is interested, there will be a memorial service.

A memorial gathering for Marc Lupescu is officially on for this Friday, July 3, 2009.

When: 7:30pm - please give yourself enough time to park and walk so that we can start on time

Where: The Cheshire Chase Action Stage at the Bristol Renaissance Faire site

Who: The people who knew and loved Marc Lupescu

What to Do: Marc is loved by a great many people, so part of the gathering will be a chance for us all to send a message to him. Please write a few words on a strip of paper and bring it with you. There will be a point in the evening when you will be invited to send your thoughts and love up to Marc via fire - most likely using Marc's portable forge. If you have one of Marc's pieces you are invited to bring/wear it.

Thank you for your warm thoughts and outpourings of love.
For those that are attending the Bristol Renaissance Faire this Sunday:

All-

Every year it seems we loose someone from our community. Specifically this year we remember Jim Gasser and good friend of the military Marc Lepescu. As a sign of remeberance and respect, the Guild of St. Michael (Trayn'd Bandes of Bristol) attempt to recreate an Elizabethan funerary procession based on Thomas Lant's roll of Sir Phillip Sidney's Funeral Procession. A project to animate and add music of the period to this document can be found here:

http://terpconnect.umd.edu/~mquillig/Sidney_Project/index.html

Any and all are welcome to join our procession. If you wish to participate, please gather in the open space between the Dreadnaught and Three Sheets pub by 10:15 am. A short traditional blessing will be given and then the military will lead the procession through the streets of Bristol.

Again if you wish to participate:

Sunday July 12th, 10:15 am
Green space between the Dreadnaught and Three Sheets Pub

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me through this forum or via email at contact at gsmbristol dot org.

Thank you all-
