Hello all, just a few questions for you.
Firstly does a hollow-ground style of blade (which I thought was often on XVIII) make half-swording more difficult in anyway.
And secondly, does anyone know a good on-line source that can help educate me on the evolution of armour (from dark ages to 16th century) because I cant just look at a piece and know when it was made, thank you.

Michael,
While we have a few Anatomy of Armour articles on our Features page, they don't cover every period (yet). I haven't stumbled across the kind of course you're looking for online, because I don't believe it's possible to get anything more than a super-basic summary in an online format.
I'd suggest you spend your time (and a little money) on some good books on the subject. The Edge/Paddock Arms & Armour of the Medieval Knight is a good start. Claude Blair's European Armour is another.
You could also study sites like gothiceye.com which show monumental brasses and effigies. You don't get text explaining what you're seeing, but you can see a lot of how armour developed by looking at those.
I'd push Blair over any that I know of. He is heads and shoudlers above the rest.
I think Chad has where you really will start to get a good feel for armour change by looking into primary evidence though.
