I have been consulting with Brian Kunz and Sam Haverkamp regarding a project I would like to undertake with my Svante. Brian, of course would be doing the scabbard work. And Sam would be working on the icons for the pommel and the furniture for the scabbard. I have been reviewing some period bits and pieces to come up with the right look for the period and the region.

Any suggestions would be helpful. Here are some links to some chapes.

You're in luck! A Grunewald painting of 1520-1525 shows two of these swords. The sword in the foreground appears to have a chape similar to the second one (Tudor) you showed above. The sword in the background (and at least one other thread here) will give you some idea of the religious figures in the little pommel alcoves. They're just barely visible.
