I just came across this on Peter Finer's website:

http://peterfiner.com/Search/ItemDetails.asp?ItemID=660#

It's described as "a rare German sword of justice, circa 1740". It is accompanied by it's original leather-covered wooden scabbard, and there are photos of the back showing the stitching. It looks like a lipped seam closed with a runing stitch and burnished down.

Interestingly it looks a lot like the leather cover goes over the top of the chape at the tip of the scabbard.
