You Tube alternatives
I am not happy with You Tube and I am looking into alternatives. I consider video an important part of training so I am putting up a list of alternative sites to see if other people here have any experience with these sites. Any feedback would be appreciated on these sites.

Hello,

I'm fed up so much with YouTube that I recently pulled all my videos. I really like Vimeo, www.vimeo.com and will be posting all future videos of mine there. An added benefit is the ability to play really high quality video, and also upload and play HD. The one downside of vimeo I have found is that it doesn't take Flash videos for upload. I like compressing to Flash because of the space it saves on unimportant projects. In fact, the compression is getting so good with flash that I've been encoding the local commercials with it so I can email it to the agencies. Good stuff, hopefully vimeo in the near future will be able to take more formats that it does currently.
What is it about YouTube that you don't like? Just curious.

You beat me to the punch there Pete. I was about to ask the same question. I know that I've been having buffering issues with the site and the videos are far from smooth. Streaming is no problem from other sites so I have to assume it's their servers and not my connection. I haven't uploaded any videos so I've no opinions as far as that's concerned. I take it you all have an issue with their policies.
There are some buffering and loading issues with Youtube that Vimeo doesn't have (Mike mentioned, it's probably a server issue on their end). A big thing though, is that I find the quality (both in SD and in HD) to be much higher in Vimeo. Youtube compresses the footage more. One thing that YouTube has going for it is that it has a much broader audience. I will admit that I do have an issue with their policies. I've had multiple videos have their audio track disabled due to "copyright infringement", and they didn't check to see that I actually did own the copyright. Either site is good though, and, like in everything, both have their pros and cons. The user interface is more streamlined in Vimeo, but the search functions in YouTube are better.

1-The streeming slows to a crawl on the weekends
2-They limit the videos sizes and length to 10 min
3-They compress the hell out of everything you upload so the quality stinks.
4-I don't appreciate them muting the music background out of my videos.

I am currently trying out Veoh. None of these this things seem to be a problem there.

Actually, you can change a setting in your upload preferences to disable the 10-minute limit. You are, however, still restricted to 100 MB upload size.

Ed, that would be very useful. I can't seem to find "upload preferences". Where is it? I looked in profile setup and manage account. Are you sure you don't have an upgraded pay service?
It looks like I'm no longer correct. There used to be a setting you could change to disable the default 10-minute limit. It looks like they've set it back to 10:59 for everyone (you can go nearly to 11 minutes) for everyone who is not a distribution partner.
