New Work, Type XVIa w/ rain guard
Here is another blade that I finished up. It is a loose inspiration from the one pictured on page 154 in Records. The blade is forged L6 with a diamond cross section and a 1 inch fuller. The point control is on this blade is really really sweet, you can move and swing the grip around and the point will stay where you want it will very little effort. While cutting the blade does a really good job around the area of percussion which is typical for this type of blade. I have a scabbard in the works that fits the rain guard but wanted to post the sword since I have a few other projects that need to get done before I can play with the scabbard. If there are any questions or comments please feel free.

Here is some info:
Overall: 44 3/4”
Blade: 36”
Fuller length: 18”
Width at guard: 2”
Width 2” from tip: < 3/4”
Weight: 3 lb
CoP: 22 1/4” from guard
Balancing Point: 6” from guard

$850 plus shipping with basic scabbard (2 week wait for scabbard, blade can be shipped immediately)

That looks awesome Mike!

the rain guard with the shape of the crossbar together really does give it a cool unique look.

Keep at the great work!
Thanks Andrew! Trying to figure out the best way to go about the rain guard was interesting since I am better at working with steel but I think it turned out ok. It was an interesting process since it has such a functional purpose, yet needs to flow and not just stand out as being a seperate "thing" that is just there to perform a function.
Wow! Great looking sword. I really like the look of this one. The guard is really nice and fits well with the rain guard. The blade is very well done too. Nice work!
Nice stuff. :)

For reference, here is the sword it's based on:
