thanx that is informative.

i had been told by a representative of several sword manufacturers, and member of various japanese sword societies, that the cryogenic treatment does not generally do much. furthermore, it can make swords quite brittle.

he further stated that he personally knew the man who owns one of the larger cryo services. apparently the cryo owner brags that he just sends the swords by batches to china where they are kiln heated and oil quenched, and that the customers never know the difference.

all hearsay, but disconcerting nonetheless.
