Give me all your pics and finds of early medieval firepower!
I´m really into handgonnes right now. I need pics of all kind of gonnes and small canons dated to the 14th C and early 15th C. There are alot of pics on the internet but most of them are kind of crap, small solution-things without any mesurements.

I have started to make some handgonnes as you can se on my blog, its in swedish but with nice pics:p

There are some specific guns that I need more info, like the ones made of iron on the two attached pics. I really like the last beast on the Ingenorth_3guns pic.

So please, help me.

There wasn´t much here.... :wtf:
When I first saw your post I thought it would be easy to find contemporary depictions. But then I went to my favorite site for medieval artwork:

http://www.imareal.oeaw.ac.at/realonline/

I found almost nothing. Maybe I was using the wrong terms (?)
Sorry I can't be of more help.
This site has great photos and detailed measurements:

I hope it's helpful. :D
The handgonne website is neat but watch some of the info, dates in particular. His ranks of gunners shooting down knights is somewhat out of place in the late 15th even let alone the early 15th.

I'd look into Bert Hall's most important work on the subject Weapons and Warfare in Renaissance Europe and Smith and DeVries excellent book The Artillery of the Dukes of Burgundy. The latter book has loads of great pictures with measurements.

Here's some excellent pictures of the Vedelspang Handgonne.

I can't read the accompanying information, perhaps someone can translate?

There might be other handgonnes on the same website, but I don't know how to search for them.

I found this by searching for "Vedelspang" via a google images search.

I hope this helps.

The following book has 4 nice b&w pics of handgonnes:

Guns And Rifles Of The World by Howard L. Blackmore (Chancellor Press / ISBN: 0 907486010)

I borrowed it from my local library and scanned the pages, however I've reach my picture upload limit, so I can't post.
