Is longish hair and some form of beard a prerequisite for enjoying history?
Nonsense! I'm as clean as a Norman...

I used to have a goatee and mustaches a couple of years back, partly because I was after that dashing swashbuckler look but also because I was hoping it would make my face look thinner. But then I came to the conclusion it made me look too much like an adult, so I shaved it all off.

(Good riddance, too, because in retrospect, having facial hair is actually kinda annoying.)

I also had long hair in a ponytail as a teen, but that was part of my personal social rebellion and not because I thought i looked good in it. (Which I didn't.) Though, ít was only after that I got my current awesome semi-curls, which is really one of my best features. So I guess it wasn't a total waste.
No facial hair now. But, several years back I used to play the pipes at Ren. Faires near San Francisco. Always had a huge mustache, full beard and very long hair just to play the role to the limit.

Actually it was a good cover, I didn't want anyone to recognize me...I was such a lousy piper! My pipe teacher, John McFee informed me that I should be called the mystery piper as he never knew, "What hell note is coming out next."

Regards,
Dan
The van dyke has always reminded me of bards for some reason. Alas at the moment I have no facial hair worthy of becoming anything more than a shadow. Though my hair goes done to about my shoulder-blades, though soon it will be cut down to a 2 for Worlds Greatest Shave 2009 (it's for cancer research and such) here in Oz, so that should be change considering I haven't had it cut for about 6 years (trimming excluded). I'll post a picture when I get it done
I started my beard senior year of high school (sooo.... wow, 3 years now.) I just was lazy of shaving and then I noticed it made me look more mature, and people seemed to talk to me and not down to me, they assumed I was 28 and not 19, so it stays.
I have toyed with goatees before but alway shaved them off because the grey hair in them made me look a bit old. Then my new girlfriend asked meto grow a goatee, so now it's part of all future costumes...guess my character just got older. :-)
I was clean shaven until I began doing 18th Century Scottish reenactments back in 2001. When I branched out into F & I and Rev War, it seemed like I should shave, but my wife says MY gray hairs in my red goatee looked way too sexy, and that I should just remain, er, hairy. Well, I guess my wife wins this round...

Actually, I kind of like having facial hair. At least it grows faster than what's left on my scalp! :\
I was clean shaven up until a few summers back when I had my first field season. That was quite scruffy and gross, since I was only twenty and it was my first beard. Didn't really know what to do with it. This fall I started growing a beard again, but it's a lot fuller, and the girlfriend really likes it. Plus it's too bloody cold right now to go beardless. I don't think I'll be shaving it anytime soon.
I looked like Jesus for about eight years, then I went clean-shaven for the last three. Right now I'm rockin' the modified Ras al Ghul.

I know it's not facial hair, but I'm currently participating in a charity event to support cancer research as well as the people with it and those who live with it.
Long story short, you shave your head once you've raised your goal e.g. "I'll shave my head when I reach $300"

And this one's my little info page: http://my.imisfriendraising.com.au/personalPa...Pref=en-CA
So yeah, if this gets removed by the Mods, than apologise in advance.
