Shipping English Swords
So as some of you probably remember, I was asking about Paul Binns swords a couple months ago. Mr. Binns and I have a problem, he has a sword I wanna buy but he doesn't knoow how to ship to the US. He says he could sell it un-asembled but i dont really wanna put on the hilt myself. He says he can ship the blade and know one will care, if he sells it hilted it will look like a sword and it wont be shipped on, how do you ship swords from england to the US.
Thnx

I don't know about England, but me and my friends have received several swords from Armour Class in Scotland...

Maybe he can ask a friend in Edinburgh to ship it to you ?
I have shipped swords to the US from the UK and have never had a problem. However I don't list it as a sword, I list it as either sporting goods or theatrical goods or theatrical prop. Likewise if I ship swords internally in the UK or to any other country. I suspect that Paul is being very cautious. If you want ask him to give me a ring; he ha my number.

We've been using " decorative metal work" for several years on customs forms with good results.
Please forgive me if I'm being overly concerned, but I worry that someone will comsider and define my dream objects as "weapons" and somehow make it more difficult or even impossible to buy more of these stage props and decorative metal work from Europe. Maybe we could use the PM function offered by this site. Again, if I'm being overly concerned, please forgive me.
