New Cold Steel Sabre up
Interesting, would love to try it out!

They seem to be coming out with quite a few new items in 2009!

I have some hope for this sabre though, checking out the weight.

It is an interesting addition to their line. As always, take their description with a grain (or more!) of salt.
Here is a recent discussion of this sword from the SBG forum (I swear Cold Steel changed their description since this discussion occurred):

Basically, this is not a replica of a civilian saber (whatever that was), and is not British. It is based on a late 19th century/early 20th century German naval officer's sword.

Thanks for that link. Insightful. I am not taken in by the marketing, just appearance and specs so far.
Mike,
Unfortunately some people are, and these strange product descriptions perpetuate misinformation. That does not take away from the sword, itself, of course. One could probably buy an half-decent original for Cold Steel's list price, but deciding between the replica and original comes down to the intent of the buyer--display or use.

I think it looks pretty interesting, actually. The proportions are to my taste and I really like this kind of light saber, since they appeal to my inner swashbuckler. ;)

Any idea on how well these things cut?

No idea yet, if I can get my hands on one soon, I will let everyone know.
