I'm sorry if this was asked before, but I did a search for "Falchion and Maciejowski" and didn't get anything.

Why is the Maciejowski falchion shaped the way it is?

Example: http://www.deltin.net/falcioniMaciejowski.jpg

I can't figure it out. If it's a one-sided blade, then what do the "points" on the back facilitate? I've wondered this ever sense I saw this weird-looking shape--or something close to it--in Braveheart.

i''m far from an expert but from what I've remember this is mysterious weapon found only in the Maciejowski bible. First off I would not call it a falchion as it looks nothing like one to me. I have heard it referred to as a Maciejowski chopper and it was probably some sort of modified agricultural tool. Hope this helps.
