Late 14th and 15th century knives
Does anyone have good pics of utility/eating knives from the late 14th century into the 15th?

I tried searching for threads, but didn't come up with much.
Try here - I have the same problem.

Much info can be found in Knives and scabbards.
Can't help with photos, but here's artwork from a database search of 1380-1420. These are clustered around 1405 and 1385.

Not sure if this is of any help:

It might provide some useful examples......

Here's some excellent reproductions, most based on the London finds in "Knives and scabbards":

Chad, I haven't had much luck in turning up originals - guess they aren't as sexy as armour and weapons.

Already, Knives and Scabbards has been mentioned a few times. Though there are precious few photos, the line drawings are fairly decent, and there is a good bit of detailed info that you don't get from other sources often - cross sections and materials used. Karen's site has a lot of great photos - not just of knives, but of darned near anything - she's some kind of awesome that way.

I did a few pieces for a gentleman last year, who focuses his efforts on the late 14th:

Almost all of the pieces were based off of the info I found from K&S. Many of the pieces detailed there are hilts with partial blades, or no blades. In these cases, I used period art, clues from the existing piece, and my own gut and utility of the shape to dictate the blades. Some were complete enough to just true up the lines and go.

Tod has done some beautiful work in this time frame, as have the folks at A&A with the pieces they did just prior to the holidays.
