I am going to build a belt grinder just after some info it will manly be for ruff grinding and shaping after the forging so what would be the best belt speed and belt size.

Really interesting, I'm planning to built one too.
My idea was to have a long plan surface to smoothen the edges and a large diameter contact wheel to clean the surfaces.
I found 2500-2000mmx50mm belts that would be good to create that long surface. Plus that widht is what most wheels are.
I made a lot of internet researches about the argument, but the more I look and the more it gets confusing.
