The Flail
Hello everybody,

I have a question about a flail. Does someone know where I can find historical pictures of the flail, I heard that no historical flail has survived and I am investigating some details of the weapon. For example, is there a leather protection between the chain and the wooden handle?

Also I would like to know what the normal length of a flail chain can be.

Thank you very much in advance.
Use the search function here for "flail" and you'll find tons of information and photos. And, yes, flails not only survive, they can be seen in countless museums and books.

Here's a good place to start:

Lots of photos on page 2.
Thanks for the information, in the Netherlands I couldn't find anything on flails and they all said that there were no surviving flails anymore.
