Thank you for the measurements TIm. If I get either I will certainly post pictures and look forward to seeing yours if you beat me to the XIa which is what I am really leaning towards.

In some respects I like this even better than Tim's custom X. The idea of taking a picture from a manuscript, and adding a new hilt design to a well known sword blade was quite inspired and unique. Perhaps not to everyone's taste, but I think the further one gets into this the more one wants to explore the poorly represented swords that fall between the classic designs.

PS, Tim, on my A&A St. Maurice the blade is slightly diamond shape toward the tip. It looks as though you got Craig to flatten the tip of this one out to be more historical - is that correct or is it just the picture?

Thanks for the compliment! The tip of this one is slightly diamond shaped. I really liked the manuscript illustration, and figured that the St.Maurice would pair with the hilt very nicely. I'm a big fan of the underdog so I always want to have the unusual and underrepresented swords made. Well, not always, but mostly. Swords that have a thousand repros of them or are very common types just aren't that exciting to me. Plus, I figure that if it already exists why have it made? I should be posting at least one other cool underrepresented sword (well sword making technique, at least) here in the not so distant future, and more as time progresses.
