Book help from myArmoury
Hey guys, I need some help if you wouldn't mind.

I'm going to be writing a 20 page research paper for college soon and the subject is going to be something along the lines of the evolution of the sword during the middle ages. I know a decent bit of information about this after hanging around here and other forums for some time and I know a few authors who I could look to for information to cite. However, I would greatly appreicate it if some people could help me out with some books they'd think could help me out - even obvious ones like some of Ewart Oakeshott's. I know we've got a bookstore, but I don't really have the experience behind me to tell which books would be of utmost use. I firgured that I could easily just do this on my own and use some of the books that I have, but then I want this paper to as accurate to history as possible.

Thanks myArmoury.

(If for any reason asking for bibliographical help is against the rules, please forgive me and lock this post)
There are alot of good books listed on the reading list here, too many to mention - just click on the different uses reading list link or check out the reading list section. I'd browse there and then see if there are some used copies on eBay or even free edition *pdfs floating around.

The Paper Armoury: Our Top Shelf

Unfortunately a library of 4-8 books won't nearly be enough.

There are currently 882 (at the time of this post) book reviews in our Book Review section.

These are pretty key:

The Archaeology of Weapons: Arms and Armour from Prehistory to the Age of Chivalry
The Sword in the Age of Chivalry
European Weapons & Armour: From the Renaissance to the Industrial Revolution
European armour, circa 1066 to circa 1700

These are interesting for an overview:

Real Fighting Stuff, The: Arms and Armour at Glasgow Museums
Arms & Armor of the Medieval Knight: An Illustrated History of Weaponry in the Middle Ages
An Historical Guide to Arms & Armor

Thank you so much Nathan - that's exactly what I needed!
