Hey guys,

i'm looking to buy a naval cutlass that is light weight (yes i know a lot of cutlasses are heavy, but i want this as light as a cutlass can get.) and it should curve up to a point and not taper.

also it must be single edged, (as most cutlasses are, but i bought one that looked promising but it was double edged at the end :()

anyway it must be no more than 33" for it is a cutlass, not a saber. (or it could be a saber, just shorter)

That's basically a U.S. model 1860 with a slightly longer blade. If you don't mind a cutlass-sized version, there are several replicas of that one on the market.

where would one find said replicas?

Cold Steel has some cutlasses / sabers that might be along the lines of what you're looking for:

For general information, the original US 1860 cutlass and especially its French equivalent (with full steel guard) are light and fast swords! Their appearance is deceiving; the solid guard balances the blade very well.

The Cold Steel cutlass is a copy of the Dutch Klewang cutlass/US 1917. It is well made and looks good but is ill-balanced, blade heavy, as it lacks the original's distal taper.

Cutlasses did have false edges, though. The presence or absence of a false edge is not something that distinguishes a cutlass from a saber. Not to get too off track, but I am not sure that there is really a distinction to be made between a cutlass and a saber. I guess it depends on how you define "saber".

but still, i want a cutlass with no false edge because that's what i want. i don't know why. maybe it reminds me of a rapier too much. bottom line, i don't know, but i know i want one edge.
