Jousting Training, May 8, 9
For those of you who are interested in jousting, horses or are willing to learn to ground crew,

I have scheduled a Joust training session for May 8 (and possibly the 9th). We will run the horses, practice lance handling, ride in armour and perhaps do a few passes, depending on what we and the horses are up to.

William "Cory" Hurt will be joining me and any other interested folks are welcome, as long as they contact me in advance.

Please email me at:

In June, we will start a monthly training session on the first Saturday of each month. Those with horses are welcome, as long as they email me in advance. We have accomodation for stabling overnight if needed. Crash space is available if you are coming from a distance.

Any interested should keep in mind that we are aiming our training toward recreating an historical joust, circa 1450-75, with the end goal of using solid lances and Stechhelms (frogmouths). This may be a long road and we intend to go slowly, with horse and rider welfare paramount.

You do not need to have your own horse to participate. I have two horses, both trained for carrying an armoured rider and jousting, so depending on your ability and your compatibility with the horse, you may be able to ride one of my critters. I will need to evaluate your skills, of course.

For those of you who are not aware of our location, we are in Ramona, which is 45 minutes northeast of San Diego, CA.

Again, should you be interested, please email me:

I really wish I could attend but I'm on the other coast. Good luck!
