|
|
First, let me say "hi!" and compliment y'all. The reviews section here (and the forums) are what finally kicked me from "passive admirer" to "desiring to partake in" when it comes to WMA.
So, being a complete novice, I have a couple of questions;
First, what's the best way to get started? I live in Atlanta, GA and from what I've seen, there isn't anything very close for training purposes. I don't mind working on my own, and I enjoy educating myself. Anyone offering pointers would find me greatly in their debt.
Second, what would be a short list of books to read on fencing? From what little research I've done, the Lichtenauer style is what most appeals to me.
Third, if there are any other tips I've missed in my ignorance, I'd be much obliged for any enlightenment.
Thanks in advance!

You will need books and equipment , but the most important part is finding practice partners to train with if possible. Fortunately for you, the Association of Renaissance Martial Arts, http://thearma.org/, have several members in the Atlanta area. I'd contact them first and go from there.
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
