I am in the process of designing a longsword to have custom made. I have all the details nailed down except the guard. Can someone here refer me to a online resource showing various cross guards common to a longsword?

Start with the Features section and study up on the type of sword you're looking to make, as "longsword" covers a lot of very different swords. Then head over to the Reviews section to get an idea of what works and doesn't work. Then come back to the forums and run a search. There's a ton of info here.

I'd say look at the oakeshott typology, here you can find what type of guard will be fitting for your specific blade shape. If you post what you have already maybe someone might give you a nudge in the right direction.
