I saw the trailer, and I'm excited to see it. Caviezel is an alien that shipwrecks in "viking land", presumably in pursuit of a dragon-like monster. I think that's a pretty good premise, and honestly couldn't care less about historical accuracy in a movie like this.

Yes, very much what I also think: Unless a movie is marketed as being real history and turns out to not even be close a movie should be judged on it's own merits and internal consistency.

I haven't seen the trailer but the idea sound like it might be fun: I remember that when I saw the first " Predator " I hadn't heard much about it and it started as a conventional " Commando " type movie and the Sci-Fi. nature of that film was very much of a nice surprise.
I also agree with Jean and Michael. After seeing horror stories like the last Arthur, or Braveheart (remember the english king "calling in the celts" against the scots who had their own irish celts in the frontlines....) I find it refreshing to have a story line which is clearly fantasy or sci-fi, and is presented as such , in the mode of Thirteenth Warrior or Beowulf.

Movies are stories, and meaningful stories are always about the human experience in all its varied flavors. Historical accuracy neither adds to that story nor does it take away from it. I do not go to movies to learn about history, I go there to experience a human story, and to be entertained. .

Historical accuracy has got nothing to do with it. It just looks like a POS. I watched Pathfinder and it was a POS; history was the least of its issues. Outlander looks like another Pathfinder which is only one step above a Sci Fi original movie

Matt; Doomsday was fun. It is a sci fi splatter flick with a good budget for exploding bodies. Low on plot high of death count. It rips material from so many other movies off; the Road Warrior and 28 Days Later were the writers inspiration and you can tell :D
