Decoration in the form of crests is very rare on the bascinet until about the second decade of the 15th century. At that point a few started adding globe finials or crests to the points or more comonly jeweled rolls at the temple level. Prior to this the only form of spiffage of which I am aware was the coronet.Dr. Douglas W. Strong
