after having a totally boring evening i'm in the mood for a good medieval or fantasy film. anybody got any good suggestions?
excluding all these which iv watched lately
conan,
braveheart,
willow
lord of the rings
or ladywawke  i know but its michelle pfeiffer she's just so hot.

Try Flesh and Blood, sometimes also titled The Sword and the Rose, with Rutger Hauer and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
Ladyhawke
Sword of the Valiant - A rather mediocre movie starring Miles O'Keefe as Sir Gawain. The highlight of the movie is Sean Connery playing the Green Knight.
Robin and Marion, starring Sean Connery as a much-aged Robin Hood and Audrey Hepburn as Marion. Also stars Nigel Nicolson (Merlin from Excalibur) as Little John, who very convincingly pummels an English knight into mush with the knight's own spiked flail.
The Three Musketeers with Keifer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen and Oliver Platt as an OUTLANDISH Porthos, not to mention TIm Curry (Cardinal Richeleou) and Rebecca de Mornay (Milady De Winter).
If you want to see the WORST b-movie fantasy ever, try and find Deathstalker II. If nothing else, the bloopers at the end with topless, former Penthouse Pet (1980's) Monique Gabrielle are a hoot. Any movie that starts with a line from the antagonist like, "I'll have my revenge! And Deathstalker, too!" HAS to be seen at least once in a lifetime.

Ack! Can't not suggest Rob Roy for the list. Liam Neeson has some good fights with a Scottish backsword in that one!

If you're looking to see a Robin Hood film, I'd also recommend the "Robin Hood" with Patrick Bergen, Uma Thurman, Jurgen Prochnow etc. It came out at exactly the same time as Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, but went straight to video to avoid competing with Costner's sorry film. I know "straight to video" normally means "mediocre", but in this case I would have to say the Bergen version beats the stink out of Costner's-- IMHO anyway

I concur.
On the fantasy fun side, try to find the Barbarian Brothers. Not sure if they are trying to be serious or sppof the genra, but very funny regardless.

A favorite of mine is an old Japanese film called Orochi the Eight-Headed Dragon (obviously fantasy genre.) Plenty of sword fights AND giant monster battles. A winning combination!

yes i agree on the Robin Hood with Patrick Bergen being the better film.
But its impossible to get on region 2 dvd or VHS im not sure about region 1 USA ,It was on TV over xmas at 2 ish in the morning but the video doesnt work anymore so i couldnt tape it.

Sword and the Sorcerer all the way...I have got to make one of those three bladed swords (two of them shoot, ya know).
Don't forget Dragonslayer...it answers the question as to what do dragonslayers do when they kill the last dragon? They become lawyers...lol

Sword of Doom (Evil samurai film, hard to find in the US (got mine on eBay), but they have it in the UK)
Throne of Blood (Kurosawa, an interpretation of Shakespeare's Macbeth. It got a fortress seige with lots of flying arrows!)

It's a story about Northmen that land in a strange country and the residents have a nasty habit of executing people with a very unique device called, "The Mare of Steel". The device is a giant blade about 25 feet tall and shaped like a slide in a children's playground. If you angered the King, you got to take a ride/slide down the length of the blade while straddling it. Yea, "ouch!" is right!

The Mare of Steel yep thats very fan familiar but iv got no idea what film it was from.

I can see the the actors in the "Mare of Steel" movie, and for the life of me can't remember the movie's or the actors names.
ARGHHH!
I do know the were looking for a gold bell, which ends up crushing the viking leader's foe in the end. So much for a good sword through the chest...

i second the 13th warrior, definitly one of my favorites, i watched last night actually! If you want to see something you can just sit and mock go for Willow with Val Kilmer, now there is a sorry movie.I really like Dragonheart with Dennis Quaid, good stuff.

It's called, "The Long Ships" starring Richard Widmark.
