There is another possibility here, Steve....

I do not know about the reputation of the dealer that is selling the sword Steve linked, but LionGate is quite reputable. It seems that the smooth inboard side is right for these German hangers.

Added: Oh yeah, the other side has the cast grip appearance.

Good point, Sean. And thanks to Jonathan for posting the LionGate example. I picked the photo that I posted above because it showed both the inboard and outboard sides of the grip in one view. I had seen another example (perhaps also at LionGate?), but none of the photos for that other offering showed both inboard and outboard sides of the grip.
