Greetings,

I am an intermediate level reproduction armorer, reproducing mostly 15th c. pieces. I was wondering if anyone else did any armoring and if so, knew a good way to turn the bottom edge of a breastplate to attach the fauld lames. Whenever I turn the edge to attach the lames I use the edge of an anvil and I find that this mars the crease and I have a hard time removing he gouges. Also, the breastplate seems to flare at each edge a bit more than I would like. (My next project will start w/ a breast and back plate in what will hopefully be reminiscent of the maximilian style.) Also, I've noticed from many photographs that armors in the maximilian style often appear to have a slender waist area. Was the fauld lame attached directly to the breastplate or was there an intermediate lame between the breastplate and the fauld? I don't think this is very likely but I don't get a chance to examine armor up close. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
