Up late browsing the web and came across this:

http://storm.nazwa.pl/wiki/index.php?ns0=1&am...chx=Szukaj

It's a search for swords on a Polish archealogical website. It has some excellent high res pics of a lot of great swords. Enjoy!

Edit: Make sure you look through all of it. The search is numbered oddly as it seems to be from a couple different Polish sites. Just press this: następne 20 (next 20) until it won't go anymore. It stops at 81.

Tim, I've just viewed that website. Some of the Viking swords in that website maybe prove that Vikings once reached the Polish coast. I am not sure about that since I don't understand Polish.

I don't think all of the swords shown are actually Polish finds. It wouldn't surprise me if the Vikings made it to Poland. They were a pretty well traveled bunch!

I don't see why not, considering they traveled everywhere from Greenland to the Mediterranean, and probably quite a way beyond. Happy

Not all these swords are Polish.

However, if you want a good book on swords found in Poland and the surrounding areas, check Lech Marek : Early Medieval Swords from Central and Eastern Europe. Dilemas of an Archeologists and Student of Arms. Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego, Wrocław 2005.

In English, as the title suggests.

There has been a post earlier on this forum board about an ebay seller for this book, can't find the post at the moment.

A very nice resource indeed... it appears to be a survey catalog of Viking sword-finds...
even though I don't read Polish, a little inductive reasoning will get you over the hump if you look closely:
you'll see the River Witham sword, the beautiful hilt from the Sutton Hoo burial, as well as finds from Tipperary, Ireland and Orkney, and I believe I recognize the words for Norway and Sweden among the listings.
Nice resource, thanks for posting it up!

Have 11 swords, 2 dirks, half a dozen tomahawks and 2 Jeeps - seem to be a magnet for more of all.
