Handles {in progress}
On another thread, I mentioned the handles as the reason that the 1404 and 1557 will precede the longswords in the "Sale" projects.......

The following photos is kind of to show the process. The process roughly :

1.The wood is first sawed to length + 1/8 inch.
2. It then goes in the smaller CNC mill where the slot gets "routed", and its faced to length.
3. A slab of wood then gets glued to the machined piece.
4. Precision work the "angles" in
5. Grind into shape, allowing for wrap
6. Wrap leather bands into place
7. Wrap cotton cord on wooden core
8. Wrap with leather skin, then "counterwrap" with cord over the skin, to bring out the aesthetic of cord under the leather......

Wow Mr. Trim, the handles look great. I always have been a fan of your swords, they just seem to look "right" for lack of a better word; swords that would have seen long use in the hands of a knight lucky enough to posses one. These handles have an elegance about them, and the various steps of completion is quite cool to see, as that is usually a part overlooked in descriptions of sword making. Thanks for the great photos, and good luck with this, I'll be thrilled to see how they turn out!
