Hello everyone,

This is a general announcement and a request for help but apologise if this is against the rules but I am desperate.

This is Tod from Tods Stuff here and I am currently doing some specialist engineering work for TV shows based out of the UK. I am working for a British production company making a documentary show for a US channel and we did some filming for it a couple of months ago dealing with long bows, short bows and composite bows, but the US channel has decided that they want an American national to be the expert for the bow part rather than the UK one we had.................

Is anyone out there knowledgeable enough and willing to come to the UK for filming next Wednesday? Obviously, travel days, filming days, expenses, flights, hotels, meals etc will all be paid for.

At the moment this is a possibility, but the likelihood of finding an American archery expert in the UK is slim. To clarify this is about European and Asian bows rather than North American.

If you are interested please contact Lucie Ridout on Lucie.Ridout@darlowsmithson.com tel 0044 20 7482 7027 or if you know anyone who may be please spread the word.

Thanks

Tod

Sent PM.

What would qualify one as an archery expert ? What bows will be discussed? Would one need to know about the tactics employed, various key battles, etc?

Hello Tod,
Well after joking with my wife about going to England, she said "Why don't you put yourself forward?" So, I am putting myself forward as a so-called expert. Having said that, here is my background: I have a degree from Pennsylvania State University in History with emphasis on Medieval History, and for the past 25 years I have been a raving fanatic about learning everything I possibly could on Arms and Armour. (I am also an avid archer, and shoot regularly with a 75lb draw English long bow). Is the program focused just on the Long bow and War bow, or does it cover bows from around the world and all time periods; Ancient Egypt to Modern Compound bows?
