Offline armourers?
I am currently on a quest for gauntlets, greaves, sabatons and some nice pottery. Easy you might think, but no, it isn't!
But this post isn't about you guys helping me finding the best products, its something else.

I have sent mails to the people behind these websites:

http://sl-armours.com/
http://www.lorifactor.pl/
http://www.trinitycourtpotteries.co.uk/

And no answer! I do like to think that my mails are pretty serious, and I do like to think that they would like more work. But still, no answer. I tend to write short and on-subject, but still polite. No 70% off viagra or armourpolish. No "MAKEH ME ARMR PLZPLZ?!"

It might be that they just ignore me, what do I know, but I need to know!

Can anybody please confirm being in contact with any of above, the last two months?
I had the same experience with Steel Legacy a few weeks ago. Serious question about commissioning a piece, no reply. Not sure what's going on.

Chris
As far as I know lorifactor currently is not making armour....

What kind of armour do you want?Maybe I will be able to help you.
Michal: But they state on the website:
Quote:
We are also creating the custom replicas of armour. All parts of such equipment are hand-crafted without any use of machines. Major part of our job is done with the use of a forge fuelled with the charcoal.

And they do have pictures of a lot of fine armour. But maybe they have stopped? Do you know anyting about this?

I am looking for gauntlets, sabatons and greaves. Timeline: 1397-1412.
I must say I do have found some pretty nice producers, but I do wish to know whats out there, before I make my mind. Thorkil as an example, does make some nice greaves, and I have found some nice gauntlets here in Norway.

Thank you for your feedback, both of you! [/quote]
Some time ago(2 months maybe) I wrote to lorifactor.I wanted a new helmet. They answered that they don't make armours right now. They didn't explain why.

Have you tried www.tomala.lublin.pl or www.lorenz.legnica.pl ?
Jim of Trininty Court Potteries is well known for not responding to e-mails, mine included. Best if you call him, I think his phone No is given on the website. He could be away, though, as he tends to travel a lot. You may also try and get some of his stuff via Historic Enterprises, they have some sort of a deal with him.

Lukasz and Krzysztof of Lorifactor are also not the most communicative guys ever... For Polish armourers I'd recomend Jacek: http://www.kuznica.dew.pl/kontakt.html The pics on his website are a bit old, but he makes some lovely stuff nowadays.
Cheers

Yes.Jacek Matera makes great armour.Especially helmets.
I had contact to Jacek over the weekend, he was very responsive. Send me pictures of his last to helmets, they look very close to the original. So I commissioned a helmet with him. I expect it to turnout great after seeing pictures of his work. Even the older bascinet pictures on his site are very close to the originals. When you compare them to pictures from the bascinet feature.
Yep - he forges all his pieces now, heat-treats them on demand and is also ableto make helmets raised in one piece. A fairly young, very talented, hard working and developing armourer. Co-operates closely with this gentleman:

who can supply you with any quilted stuff (or indeed stuffing) you might require. Should you like to attach a riveted aventail to a bascinet he's also a good supplier.
Cheers
Mick
